AS Funfair Hire is a family-run funfair and fairground ride hire business based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. This policy explains what we do with the information you give us when you enquire about hiring rides for your event, and what rights you have over it.

We have written it in plain English rather than legal language. If anything here is unclear, ring us and ask — you will speak to the family who runs the business.

Who we are

AS Funfair Hire is the data controller for information collected through this website. That means we decide what is collected and what happens to it.

What we collect

Only what you type into our enquiry form:

• Your name
• Your phone number
• Your email address
• The date of your event
• The type of event
• The location of your event, and anything else you choose to tell us

That is the whole list. We do not take payment details through this website, we do not create customer accounts, and we do not record your IP address.

Why we use it

We use what you send us to reply to your enquiry, check whether your date is free, put together a quote, and — if you go ahead — plan and run your event.

Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and once a booking is confirmed, performance of that contract. We are not relying on consent for this, because you have asked us to get in touch.

We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not send marketing, and we do not sell, rent or pass your details to anyone for their own use.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for two years after the date of your event, or two years after your enquiry if no booking is made. That leaves us a record for repeat bookings and for any question that comes up afterwards. After that it is deleted.

If you would rather we deleted your details sooner, just ask and we will.

Who else sees it

Your enquiry is stored on this website and emailed to us. The only other parties involved are the company that hosts this website and our email provider, both of which handle the data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for anything of their own.

We may also share information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim — with our insurers, for example. Nothing beyond that.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no profiling of visitors — which is why you have not been asked to accept a cookie banner.

The site does load two animation libraries from public code networks (cdnjs.cloudflare.com and unpkg.com) so that pages scroll and move smoothly. These set no cookies, but as with any file your browser requests, those networks will see your IP address as part of delivering it.

If we ever add website analytics, we will update this page and ask for your consent first.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• Give you a copy of the information we hold about you
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete your information
• Restrict what we do with it
• Object to us using it
• Send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable format

To use any of these, email or ring us. It is free, and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy

Please tell us first — we would far rather put something right ourselves. If you are still not satisfied, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date below.
